One Proud Momma!

It's funny yet kinda sad how quickly life goes by.  It seems like only yesterday that we were moving Zach into his dorm room at Cal Poly in Pomona.  He intended to be a mechanical engineering major there, but after the first quarter quickly changed his mind.  He has always been a strong math/science student, but he found the engineering classes too stifling.  So after fulfilling a lower division requirement art history course in the History of Architectural Landscaping with an exciting and passionate professor, his life was suddenly headed down a completely different path.
He settled on a major in the Plant Sciences which opened up so many fields for him to explore.  He excelled in his studies and one of his professors recommended him to Dole Foods for a part time job inspecting fruit as it was unloaded from the trucks that brought it in from various ports around the world.
Dole liked him so much that they offered him a full time job after he graduated.
My boy graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Agriculture this last June and started his full time career with Dole in August of this year.
He is traveling throughout the U.S. to all the ports where the big tankers come in, as well as all the distribution centers and even market places to inspect the shipping, handling, and display of the fruits and the conditions that they are stored once they reach the U.S.  I believe his title is Inspector.
Just in the month of August he has already been to Philadelphia, Wilmington, Delaware, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix.
As he's traveling he's enjoying the cuisines of all the various cities he's in.  He especially liked the B.B.Q. in Houston.  He leaves for Gulf Port, Mississippi on Monday.
The only bummer is that he has a 2 hour commute from Yorba Linda to Westlake Village where the Dole Executive offices are when he's in town.  So he's just signed a lease for his first little bungalow in Pasadena to be closer to L.A.X. and work.
Your dad and I are so very proud of you Zachary and we wish you all the happiness in your new career.  We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful child.  Your Nana Patti and Aunt Elena Sue are your two angels who are smiling down on you and keeping you safe.  Always remember them for they were the two probably most responsible for instilling in you a love of nature and plants.  Plant something in their honor at your new home, they'd like that very much.  You were who they lived the last years of their lives for.  They loved you Big Time!
Just like me!  Love you so much sweet boy.
