AN EASTON UPDATE

The last pix I posted of lil E was at the end of March on Easter Sunday
when he was 5 months old.

Well here is our cutie patootie at 6 months.
Even though his hair is getting longer in front,
he is loosing small patches of it here and there.
My son's hair did the same at that age only it looked much worst.
Kind of resembled a sumo wrestler.
Ha ha!
Easton wakes up with big smiles for his parentals every morning.
Below was shot right before they had to lower his mattress for the first time.
You can akso see below that his tiny bald patches are filling in
 as he approaches 7 months.
We have him on my baby blanket from 1956.
My mother saved it,
and then when she passed I found it among her things in 2013,
and of course my two were too old for it,
so I saved it for my first grand.
Those eyes, right??

At 7 months he has really figured out
what his cubby little legs are for.
Not crawling forward yet,
just backwards a bit,
and pulling himself up to a standing position
but then boom right back down.
His abs are getting so strong.
His bubbly personality is really shining thru.
 He's also discovered real food.
He's still loving a bottle and binky,
and drooling like crazy.
Trying so badly to cut his first tooth.
And he rarely cries,
one of the happiest, sweetest little ones I've ever known.
Am I a bit biased,
you betcha!
But that's who he really is.
An easy baby!
I'm averaging usually 2 nights a week of babysitting.
Both parents work late into the night which works great for me
 as I'm a night owl.
I love giving him a bath and putting him to sleep.
It seems I can hold him for hours in my arms as he naps
and I never want to put him down.
And goodness,
what a snuggly bunny he is!
When I do put him down for the night it's right next to me on the couch
till either mom or dad gets in.
His best buddies are right there with him.
First we have Miss Tatum who thinks Easton is her baby
and is constantly checking on his well being and giving big licks.
She loves cleaning his face after every meal.
And even bigger, sloppier licks come from dog daddy Kepler,
a huge brown Lab.
He loves this little guy too,
and as you can see wants to always be by his side touching him in some way.
Then there is Granger, the Blue Healer, the meanie,
who wants nothing to do with the little fella.
But because he is black and white,
Easton wants to get his attention the most.
Figures.

At 8 months his looks are really changing.
He's filled out into his pudgy self,
and his hair is sprouting out everywhere
and getting blonder from the summer sun
Just like his mommy's does.
He's becoming so very expressive and animated.
And there is serious teething going on.
In fact,
this week he finally cut this first tooth and it is sharp!
I read on social media that if you give babies the inner core of a pineapple,
it's the perfect teething stick as you can see.
And it numbs his gums at the same time.
I hate cutting up a pineapple,
but for this little love bug,
anything!
At 8 months he loves the camera and will sit patiently as you snap away.
And he has become so much fun to play with.
He wants to stand up constantly and explore surfaces where he doesn't belong,
so when I babysit I surround him with age appropriate taller toys
that he moves from one to the other on his tip toes.
He pulls himself up so quickly from a kneeling or sitting position
so you can't take your eyes off him,
because there is still a lot of tipping over.

My daughter Dani has been taking him to swim lessons and he loves the pool,
and thinks his bath is a pool as well.
He is a powerful kicker and wants to take off.
He's even been in the Colorado River boating and swimming
with his parents, cousin, aunts and uncle and other set of Grands.
He goes early every morning in his jammies
with his mom and dad to the cross fit gym,
and has since his birth.
He is their honorary gym baby mascot.
You can see he has recently found the kettle bells
and is practicing his balancing act.
So proud of himself!

Fourth of July was hot here,
in the low 90's with high humidity this year.
He accompanied his parents to several swim parties
in his adorable little man outfit for the 4th.
He also is doing the cutest thing with his hands.
See below.
Holding them together as he tries very hard to understand
what you are telling him.
Easton loves studying our mouth movements and sounds.
Dada is down and now we are working on "Mama", "Oh" and "Baba".
And of course he's making a lot of funny noises with his throat, lips and tongue.
Raspberry noises are his fav along with tapping his hand over his open mouth.
He started that this week.

And about two weeks ago he finally figured out "the Crawl".
And man oh man,
is he a busy little rascal now.
He is super fast with his favorite destinations being the dog's water dish,
the wheels on his stroller,
the doggie door that leads out onto the patio,
and the diaper pail.
But his favorite place of all are the toilets.
A fascinating discovery for him.
He loves using his hands and seems to already be very mechanical.
And that handle on the toilet is just irresistible!
Caught ya!

HOLIDAY BLESSINGS

 HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

There is so much to be Thankful for on this home front with the birth of our grandson and Jim and Inars continued good health and recovery.

Once again thanks to all of you who have emailed, and asked about the baby.

 Is he here yet?

Oh my, YES!!

Little guy Easton arrived on October 11 at 12:15 a.m., 4 weeks early, but weighing in already at 6 pds. 1oz. and 19 inches long.  My daughter Dani had a very easy delivery once she asked for that epidural, and was able to push him out in less then 15 minutes.  I had the extreme pleasure of watching him being born, a brand new experience for me, and mom and dad wanted me to cut his cord.  They didn't want a glimpse of any of that down there.  LOLOL

How lucky for me!!

First time Easton is meeting mommy and daddy.

Tiny but perfect in everyway, he has brought a whole new HUGE love to our family.  I have never felt this kind of joy before, and if I miss over 2 days of not seeing, holding and sniffing him, I need an Easton fix.

Luckily he is only 20 minutes away.

All cleaned up after his birth!

Dad taking charge right away.
Damn I love that!!!!

Meeting Grandma Deb and Grandpa Inars (my ex) for the first time.

Snuggling with mom
on the same day of Easton's birth in the afternoon,
with tons of visitors popping in and out of the hospital room.
Check out how large those newborn clothes are on him.

I was such a scared and timid mother with my first born Zach,
never having babysat and knowing next to nothing about babies
(no Google or Instagram at that time).
My mother was close by my side for a good week
as I was so overwhelmed.
But Easton's mom and dad have taken to it like bees to honey.
They aren't lowering their voices, the dogs are barking,
and those loud noises don't seem to bother Little E at all.

Day two of E's life and he's ready to leave the hospital.
They get the parents in and out quickly these days.
And what a cutie he is, so tiny in that big car seat!
In a lot of his pix you will see his right hand on his face.
His fingers are extra long and his feet are big for one so small.
Humm, baseball player like dad?
First day home and in his crib.
You can see how even though he is stretched out here his clothes are just too big.
So off to the store and a few preemie outfits found.
Home in his room with mom in their rocker for the first time.

Because so many women are pumping and have excess milk these days,
it's really nice that the hospital
gives the parents enough donated breast milk until mom's comes in.
I have no recollection of that when I left the hospital.

Easton sleeps thru everything,
I just can't get over that.
And he is such a good baby,
so far he only cries when he is getting his diaper or clothes changed.

He thrives in very noisy places
like watching his daddy play his weekly night baseball games,
or watching dad bowl each week with the guys.
Just sleeps right thru everything and never makes a peep.
Dan takes him everywhere,
even going with mom to get her toes done
(she can actually she them again, haha!)
Of course he loves being held,
swaddled,
is a hearty burper and pooper,
and really enjoys his stroller buggy rides with this grandma!

 And to top it off,
he loves a party.
On his 2nd day home he was off to a family party with his dads side of the family, meeting his cousins, uncles, aunts and great grandma Irene.

Step grandpa, Pop pop, fell in love with the little guy instantly
and is looking a bit like Jay Leno here.
It is so fun seeing the wonder on everyone's face as they meet Easton
or hold him.
I keep wondering what he will call me.
I'm kind of hoping for Mimi,
that is what Jim's grandsons call me.
Or maybe he will come up with a special sounding name.
It's all good.

My son and daughter-n-law came up from L.A. in the Valley,
 brand new Auntie and Uncle,
to meet Easton and spend an afternoon with him and the new parentals.

His doggos are so over the moon in love with him,
 Granger, Tatum, and Kepler.
Kitty Lily is still not so sure.
Here are two of them on their way home from grandpas
to met the baby for the first time.
It was such a delight to watch that.
Just stretched my heart even more.
The dogs went crazy happy when they saw him
and all wanted to give him sniffs and kisses.
Tatum has identified herself as his second momma in charge of many kisses,
as well as face and neck clean up of any milk that has escaped
down his chin and around his neck.
Granger and Kepler are his constant companions and watchdogs
who follow mom and dad from room to room with him
or lay by the bassinette while he naps.

Mom,
who gained 40 pds and worked out everyday while pregnant,
has lost 30 of it already,
but shared with me today that she's struggling with those last 10.
I told her not to worry,
she looks amazing and it will eventually come off.
And she is already back at the gym which is great for me because I get to babysit.

Dad had 3 weeks off but went back to work last week.
The minute he walks in the door he goes straight to the little guy
and smothers him with love and kisses.
Honestly I have never seen a dad take to a baby the way he does.
Just warms my heart.
These are two of my favorite photos so far in his bacon and egg preemie outfit.
In the top one my daughter captured one of his very first smiles.
The bottom is fresh out of the bath with his hair still slightly wet
and ready for bed.
I've gotten to watch a few of his bath videos and they melt my heart.

We continue to pray for our country and the peoples of the world,
and are hoping peace will come soon for the many war torn countries.
These are heartbreaking times for so many,
so this year we are extra thankful and am feeling so very blessed
to be here safe and snug in our beautiful community and home.

Wishing all a wonderful Holiday Season and Peace on Earth.

A few of my grandpets.
Meet Smoothie.. all grown up
and out of control.
A rescue found under my son's house.
Smooth lets Zach manhandle him as much as he wants and loves the attention.

Poor four year old Granger
who will let my daughter dress him up for all events.

Sweet Tatum (a rescue who is 3 now) and Piper (another rescue).
Tat thinks Piper was her baby from the first day she came home.

The gang exhausted from the heat wave we are having here in the So.Cal.

And mom putting us to bed.

And the best greeting you are ever going to get!
You know you are welcome here.

They are my heart.

TODAY MORE THANKS...

for these two goofballs,
Granger and Tatum.
They give me unconditional love and oodles of licks.
I've never known two dogs that have their capacity for companionship and joy.
My babies,
my grand dogs.
I feel my heart swell with so much love every time I see them.
I'm guessing it's the kind of love your feel for your own grandchildren.
I'm still patiently waiting.
Hint, hint!!!!

PUMPKIN LOVE - part one

I love the changing of the seasons from summer to fall,
it's my absolute favorite time of year.
And I notice it as soon as I don't feel that intense summer sun's blistering heat on my shoulders
while I'm watering up at the cabin.
For me it's such a big sigh of relief.
And this year was no exception,
we had some major heat waves here in the California Southland
along with all the crazy fires.

This year my son Zach and his gorgeous bride are in their new home in the valley.
They gutted their grass in the backyard and planted a veggie garden.
Because we had amended the soil with lots of goodies like chicken and steer manure,
the plants took on a life of their own as you can plainly see all around them.
It was like veggies on steroids.
Ha ha
And the kids have a fairly large size yard
because that's how they used to space houses in the 1950's and 60's
in the San Fernando Valley.
The pumpkin vines grew from one side all the way to the other side of the backyard.
I had pix to share but 2 weeks ago I lost my phone and all my pictures and contacts.
So sadly I'm starting over again.
And no,
I didn't know I could save them to my cloud.
I just automatically thought they were up there.
I still have so much to learn.
😕

But the great news is I don't need to go out and buy pumpkins this year.
My son is my pumpkin patch.
Their largest one is in the photo above with them and it's still growing.
I'm thinking the County Fair.
This next one above is my personal favorite.
It puts a big smile on everyone's face.
The kids let my daughter Dani and myself take home as many as we wanted.

I'm placing them around my front door here at my husband's home
amongst all my Cacti, Succulents and Xmas Lilies,
and then around my Home Studio door below.

But my favorite place is among my daughter Dani's eclectic mix of pumpkins from Trader Joes.
The really bright orange ones were grown by the kids.
And of course I love the pix even more because of the two best grand pups in the world!
