WALKOUT AT WHITNEY

About 2/3 of our entire student body choose to walk out yesterday
in memory of the students and staff killed at Parkland High School in Florida.
They calmly gathered around the American flag in the front of the school,
and for exactly 17 minutes these children bowed their heads and were completely silent.
It was a sight to see and extremely powerful.
Standing with them was an Almni from 1982,
Hope Yoneshige.
So very proud of our students for the respect they showed.

FINALLY HOME

My beautiful friend at school,
Cindy Bailey,
secretary to our Assistant Principal Rose Ellen Shea,
is rocking the Ceramic Chimes I showcased yesterday.
Cindy is fairly new to our school
(I believe she is in her 3rd year),
but she has already made herself indispensable to all of us.
Cindy is steadily building up her art collection by supporting our students
and buying a few pieces each year at Open House to put on permanent display in her office space.
Her back wall looked so naked,
and she has been so good to me,
that I thought it would be a nice gesture to gift her the chimes.
She loves them and so do many of the other staff members.
I'm thrilled that she's delighted.

Thank you Cindy for your friendship and all you do for us at Whitney.
You have definitely become part of our family.

IN THE NEWS

Woo Hoo,
Whitney High School is in the news again.
#1 High School in the State of California &
#19th in the Nation.
We've had several news crews here recently doing stories on us,
but nothing like today.

KTLA's Gayle Anderson at  Channel 5 was here at 7:00 this morning to do several live interviews with our students and staff.
There were 3 already that aired this morning.

And I'm so thrilled,
she actually made her way into my classroom to film the students working
and to do a short interview with me.
They've been shooting footage all day
and then will edit it down to 3 minutes for their 3:00 broadcast.
So check it out at 3 today if you can!

HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!!

My posting will probably be a bit spotty this week.
But I will try my best to keep up.

To my students,
I wish you a relaxing break.
Especially to my seniors.
Got my fingers crossed that you all will hear from more of your 1st choice colleges.

Trying not to think of school,
but finding I 'm dreaming of you guys regardless.
Last night Antoinette Jabat,
you were my White Rabbit helping me to find my way back to my classroom
from a very scary Disneyland at night and after hours.
Sadly we never made it.
You were too fast for me and I couldn't keep up.
And I went thru the wrong door.
When I came back thru it to retrace my steps you were gone.
I was so upset I woke myself up
ha ha

Love to all...

HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY...

March 9, 1996

to one of the most in love couples I know,
Suzanne and Mike Campbell.
You two should write a book on how to make marriage work and last.
As Suzanne's sister Aileen says,
"They are a beautiful example of what love looks like"
ahhhh
And here they are 20 years later.
Still spending every free moment together.
In this shot below
they were competing at the local meatball cook-off in Yorba Linda this last weekend.
Check out what a romantic guy Mike is.

On their Anniversary they both took the day off work to revisit their favorite spots.
They started the day off at the Seal Beach Jetty
then on to Nick's Deli for Breakfast Burritos.
Dog Beach in Huntington was their next stop,
then on to Balboa Island.
A picnic lunch from Lawry's at the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve,
then on the way home
stop at the Chapman Chapel in Anaheim where they said their "I do's"
Home that night for dinner with their two sons,
and topping off the evening watching their wedding video.

Suzanne is the head secretary at our school and one of my dearest friends.
Happiest Anniversary with many more to come
