EXTRA CREDIT CLAY CANDLEHOLDER
clay, sawdust firing, metallic compounds
During a recent mask assignment in clay,
we had some really great pieces of leftover textured clay.
So I suggested to the kids we use it to make candleholders,
and then later I'd show them how to pour their own candles.
They were interested big time!
These were their results.
Junior Joann Chung built this elongated 3 burner with fun designs on either side.
Junior William Kim made this wonderful one above
embellishing with gold and silver metallics.
And I love this next one as well by junior Josh Bok.
I really like his oval shape that slightly angles in..
Here we have another beauty by junior Liana Chie.
Look at those cool markings that the sawdust fire left on the clay!
And clever junior Sara Chea thought to glue beads on the top edge of hers
which totally works with the metallic rubbings she put on.
And this last one belongs to highly creative thinker junior Hazel Cruz.
Love how she wrapped jute around the bottom with it's square base.
And then the leather/bead embellishment is such a nice compliment.
