LOOM WEAVING IS BACK

TABLETOP LOOM WEAVING
ADVANCED 3-D ART
tabletop loom & yarn

In the last couple of years,
I've noticed that weaving is coming back
and being taught again in the specialty upscale yarn stores.
I'm delighted because sadly it did go out of vogue there for a while.
It was big back in the 1980's so I had bought several of these table looms for the kids.
Two years ago we unearthed them,
dusted them off,
tried to clean as much rust off of them as much as possible,
and they are happy, happy again!

Senior Laarnie Barcelon took to the loom like a duck to water.
I had her learn to warp it in the traditional way on a warping board,
and then dress the loom.
Here she is above weaving her first little band.

I like how she turned it into a neck piece with silver ends and a gold pin.
Clever girl!

  1. I'm a big fan of non-traditional looms ... twigs, shells, boxes, even leaves ... as I discovered new ways with fiber during Jude Hill's Considering Weave study last year. So yes, I share your pleasure that weaving is back in vogue.
