YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GONNA GET

ECO DYED GARMENT EMBELLISHMENT
INTERMEDIATE 3-D ART
thrifted garments, windfall, steam & embellishments

We started with thrifted tops,

And got here the last time we saw these Eco-Dyed Garments.
Remember the kids pounding out the pigments from the flowers and fruits?
Well here are a few of the finished results.

Let's begin with junior Shreya Sheth.
I felt she did the most to alter the top;
something that I failed to stress more with the other students.
Using parts of another silk eco dyed garment,
she overlayed those pieces a top the collar and button band area of this shirt.
She also removed all the buttons and replaced them with more contemporary black hook & eyes.
She also created a pocket from the extra silk piece where there was none before.
And then there was the embroidery she stitched down.
A truly remarkable piece Shreya.

Junior Jac is next up with these fabulous shades of blue she manged to extract from her plants.
Note below the amazing effort she put into beading the front and back of her bodice.

Next up is senior Amber Wu with her soft purples she achieved.
She compliments them with lavendar perle cotton embroidery,
and she has also added a sweet little pocket.

Lastly is senior Kristine Luong.
She did a lot of fun embellishing on the front collar, cap sleeves and side of her vintage blouse.
Let's take a closer look.
She even added found vintage lace under the collar.

  2. I love every stitch of this ... not to mention the blues are to swoon for and I'm always drawn to the wavering lines created by wrapping the cloth. What a kick it must be to see these worn and walking through the halls at school!
