GLORIOUS COLOR

OIL PATELS
7TH GRADE ART WHEEL - 1ST QUARTER 2015-2016

Some of the richest,
most beautiful color can be achieved with Oil Pastels.
And the 7th graders enjoy them.

My 7th graders were shown 3 different ways to use them;
hatchure strokes, pointillism or coloring like  n a coloring book,
and then were able to practice all and chose one for these little samplers.
This first one by Alex Min was pro!
Amazing technique and use of color.

Loved the striking pink into purple background
 that Rawnie Singh thought to use for her backdrop.

And check out the great cast shadow
 that Nika F. put under and to the right of her sphere,
how believably it blends in to the grass.

And everyone loved Amara A's cute ladybug.

And we end with Charles Chen's cool planet themed piece.

Fantastic job young ones!!

  1. I usually try not to pick favorites, but Alex Min ... this is wonderful! The light beneath the dark, the grayed-out greens in the shadow, and the utterly surreal background that has me convinced it could actually exist. Well done!
