DeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family! I hope the season is full of family, friendship, and good food, Debra!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen, I wish the same for you and your family. It will be my daughter's first try at hosting Christmas Day and I'm already in panic mode for her. ha ha But I couldn't be more proud. We will be 12 for dinner. Giving my son's new mother-in-law a sweet little antique Featherweight. She is a quilter with the most impeccable craftsmanship. I really want to cheer her, her cancer has returned for the 3rd time just this week, and all of us are so very scared. And on Thanksgiving she just learned she will be a grandma for the 1st time, so she has a lot to fight and live for. So we are sending out a lot of prayers for this very sweet and gentle woman. It will be the 3rd time she will loose her hair. And it was just starting to grow back in from the 2nd round of chemo and radiation. I'll post about it soon so we can get a whole lot of prayer going on for her. Sending you lots of love.
DeleteI can't think of a better gift than a Singer Featherweight. My father promised my mother he would get her anything she wanted if I was a girl. She got a featherweight, and then it was mine, and now it is my daughter's. That faithful machine has had 71 years of use. :)
DeleteI hope your son's mother-in-law will be able to make use of the quilting to escape from some of the fear and worry of her cancer. Prayers and good thoughts to her--and to her family!
Jen...She has already tried it out and it's sewing perfectly for her and she loves it's little humming noise as it goes. Thank you for sharing your story about your mom's Featherweight. I love that it's been passed on from you to your daughter. That's the best!
DeleteChristmas blessings and joy to you and your family.
