DAFFY FOR DAFFODILS

I've been watching closely over the hundreds of green shoots
sticking up from the ground for over a month now up at our cabin.
And then boom,
all at once they are sending up their flower stems.
And then it starts to snow.
And snow,
so that this last weekend when we went up,
all those flower stems were bent over and buried under the snowfall.
Noooooooooo....
What to do?
I gently went around the yard and un-buried every single one,
cut them off the plants and placed in a vase of water.
As we headed down the mountain to come home
several of the buds slowly began to try and open themselves,
due to the warmth of the jeep interior.
By the time we got home several had opened fully.
It was so cool to watch.
Half of the ones not opened yet,
I put in the refrigerator to keep them closed,
and the others I took to school so the kids could enjoy watching them open as well.
It took another 2 full days for them all to bloom
and then off they went to the office staff
where I had everyone take a couple to put in their desk vases.
Happy teacher,
 happy kids,
happy staff.
Cuz you just can't help smiling when you look at these delightful flowers.
