A new assignment I tried this year with my Ceramics II kids was to make sculptural clay rattles and then cover them with oxide tinted porcelain slips. Senior David Hyun made this wonderful clay form and tinted his porcelain with cobalt carbonate. When that was leather-hard he incised through it to get the linear designs. Then the piece went through both the bisque and glaze fire. No glaze was used. I especially love the form.
